Midtown Madness – A decade of Madness

After the successful launch of the game in the year 1999, the Midtown Madness has still been the madness of many for a decade or so. It still continues to reign supreme as one of the most played games today. It is probably due to the options that the game allows. The game allows a variety of playing options, circuits and a number of vehicles to choose from.

The game is all fun and not about hardcore racing. You may try racing amidst the plethora of civilian vehicles, buses, cars, terror struck pedestrians who run for cover the moment you take the pavement and start knocking the street lights off, it is pure fun and nothing else. Nothing equals the realized virtual streets of Chicago and you can knockdown every nook and corner.

When it first released in 1999, the demo version took the world by storm and soon, the full version followed suit within less than a month. Following the success of the full version, Midtown Madness 2 never failed to make an impact. The success of the game reigned supreme and it lead to the rise of Midtown Madness 3, in 2003 for the Xbox players.

You can do what you cannot in your real life. Nowhere, in the game you feel restricted and freedom is what that has made this game a huge success. Midtown Madness is a race amidst the busy streets of Chicago. You are free to choose the climatic conditions in which you want to take the road. Lights may want you halt and you may either violate or halt depending upon how you want to race.

This game of Angel Studios and Microsoft collaboration offers four modes of play for individual gamers. The gaming mode of Blitz suggests a time limit and within the time limit, you must hit the finish line, Circuit race is the normal circuit race where we travel in a fixed circuit, or a predetermined route, to take on other vehicles that race with us.

Checkpoint poses various checks on your vehicle with cops constantly roaming around spotting yourself as a traffic violator and city traffic and pedestrians are real forms of challenge. Finally, in Cruise, you can simply take a slow drive on the roads without any disturbances, even if you come across, you can simply ignore them and continue playing. My favorite option is to take the city bus on the roads and knockdown every possible pedestrian, streetlights and even the policemen.
